VR GIS Project
- VR GIS™: Vector Raster Geographic Information Synthesis. VR GIS is the name of the Sourceforge project and is the Project Manager System for the other VR GIS programs. Operate Drones (other computers) individually by Remote Control, (by KVM), or as part of a Synthesis Task Analysis Function Farm: Multi-computers Individually operating programs (scripts) Network connected to allow data collation into an Evaluation.
Several [most] of the following programs require the Borland BDE database engine and the .dll's included with VR GIS [Voice, Tongs, I Locatable H, DTM, SOS MAP]. To compile a programs source code, a Delphi version 5 or later compiler and components described in the program html file included in the release are required. The OpenGL 3d display for all programs is enabled with the GLScene component.
- VR Subsets: big enough to be individually described yet where do they belong... they may be in DTM or VR GIS or ___
- AStar Pathfinder and Base Map Generator
- Atoms in Stereo. 3D raster image histograms, Panoramic viewers, glTIP, ...
- VR Supersets: well not really per definition
- Life™: is an adaption of "the game of Life" (not to be confused with the board game) by Conway wherein cells live {remain}, multiply {appear} and die {disappear} according to rules.
- Meals On Wheels Client database tracking meal receipt, delivery, payment, and coordination of delivery personnel. (Not a GIS) Route finding is done manually, as no available program 'works'.
- Vector: VOICE™ : Vector Overlay Information Classification Extrapolation. 2D vector data.. [ESRI® Shape .shp files (
shapefile.pdf)] .shp file display.
- Tracer™: A Digitizing program to trace maps or photos into data files using a digitizer puck while manipulating menus with the mouse and keyboarding attributes into a database. The converted to Delphi GCTP projection source code, which is used by several programs may be included with Tracer or in the common-buz release or both.
- Raster: GRIP ICE™ Geographic Raster Image Processor : Investigate Classify Extract. Satelite imagery or aerial photography of the terrain.
- Tongs™ aka Image in a past life... and to be Image again in the next. ...use Tongs to Grip Ice...
- Geographic: DTM™ Digital Terrain Mapping: Produce Elevation Tints, Slope Tints, Contours, Line of Sight, LOS Masked Areas, overlay multiple layers of shape objects (.shp) iaw Geographic Projection, and 3D Flyby Perspective Views.
- Information: ILH™: Image Locatable Holographics provide preview-conversion-organization of Raster, Vector and Meta data.
- Image™ : Raster images: photographs to be processed, categorized, and located.
- Locatable™ on a 2D Vector display. The coverage..extents of Geographic imagery and Vector data per type and Resolution.
- Holographics™ 3D Metadata display of Vector Raster data. What exactly that is is yet to be determined. A roamable Solar system display of data - right clickable for metadata, a 'point cloud' of hypertext, a globular {glob not globe} TIN of inter-related information, ... TBD although all are OBE.
- Synthesis: SOS MAP™ :Surreal Object Synthesis Multimedia Analysis Product.
3D Viewer for VR GIS... kind of a remote controlled DTM.
Surreal Object Synthesis: Object morphology having x,y,z,t coordinates and attributes.
Multimedia Analysis Product: Synthesize a model paradigm from Vector and Raster image-object-data. Drape image layers on DEM, place shapes (Hydro: streams..lakes, Vegetation: grass..trees, Transportation: trails..roads, Urban: houses..buildings, moving objects..etc...) and go on 3D Fly-by of Perspective Views. Perform modeling of physical processes. Virtual Visualization Voxels. Modeled procedures, VOICE .. GRIP ICE .. DTM interaction relation.
Information
- Status
- Voice, Tracer, Grip, Tongs, and DTM are stable. ILH: Image, Locatable, Holographics : Image is mostly a divergent clone of ( ImageE at Sourceforge by R. Geurts ) (original Image became Tongs, next version: Tongs may become Image), Locatable cannot be released with Source as it uses a commercial OCX so it will not appear here (till next version: a VOICE Sub-Super set), and Holographics is barely more than a conglomeration of GLScene demos (maybe someday it will congeal). VR GIS is barely developed, however it is released as it contains the Borland BDE installation required by several other of these programs (all the common-required stuff needs to be in the common 'project'). Two VR GIS 'Supersets' : Fractal3D and Life are outdated yet are still fun. SOS MAP is being developed, thus not released yet...
- VR GIS links to information and similar software.
- VR GIS may be VR but it is not VRML, XML, X3D, MOO, MUD, "Google Earth", "QuickTime VR", nor ___.
- All of these programs are on the verge of being rewritten: All to change the Menu stucture, the imaging programs to use a standard type of processing (scanline), and all to allow some sort of Scripted Network control described in VR GIS (The Scripted and Network portions are continually failing... [imagine a big pile of scrunched up paper] currently Scripted is Delphi Web Script (DWS) and Network is Internet Direct (Indy) networking code). There may be a Turbo Pascal version, if not, then there will probably be a Linux / FreePascal / Lazarus version, sooner than later. There will never be a Kylix version.. that is a Sourceforge naming thing, not mine. These programs are transforming from a failed attempt at Shareware (No one Ever paid me - although it was pirated and cracked), to No Cost, to Open Source at Sourceforge. The OpenSource License is mixed at this time and some residual indications to the contrary of it being Open Source may exist... so as the definition of 'Open source'... it seems the more it is defined the more the definition becomes impossible to understand.. and/or comply to. These programs have source code, do not use the Registry (each makes a Program Options File .pof: a simple text file to store program options, directories, form locations, etc) and are not 'installed', although an INSO Install per release is planned.
- Installation: Make a directory for each project and place the zip files in them. Unzip the files there, as they contain files only, not a directory structure. (This needs to change) The exception is buz and common: they should be at the same level as the project directories and are zipped inside a folder (Required for source compilation) (All common dlls: BDE, etc should have their own distribution..hummhm). Any sundry files included with the projects should be unzipped in the project directory. They will contain their directory structure. Sundry (data) files will probably be in their own release within their Project Group, as they will not change as often as the actual application and source files.
- buz The converted to Delphi GCTP projection source code, which is used by several programs may be included with Tracer or in the common-buz release or both.

- The OpenSource License is MPL unless the source code file indicates GPL or another type of license (leave notice in file alone and/or indicate gratitude in documentation). For those of us that do not understand all that legal stuff, a Historical Permission Notice and Disclaimer License is included below.
- None of the Demo data is released from this Project by me. Most of the data has an original author or artist and their instructions on obtaining the data.
